Site History

This web site was originally started on March 30th, 1996 as "Lon's Prey Page." I started the site because there was not really a source of information for the game Prey anywhere. It was one of the first web pages dedicated to Prey anywhere. The site went under design changes in August and November of 1996. In November, George Broussard, co-owner of 3D Realms Entertainment made his first visit to IRC's #Duke3D, and he helped give out news on the game.

In December 1996, I released "The Prey FAQ," Frequently Asked Questions about Prey. This FAQ became The "Official" Prey FAQ for 3D Realms.

In Early 1997, I joined Elite Games to make their Shadow Warrior Zone. At the same time I agreed to make a Prey site (TalonBrave.com). The site was started in the Summer of 1997, but never did make it online at Elite Games, or later called 3D Portal (now bought out by GameSpy Industries).

Website circa 1997/1998.

Around the time Prey was dying out, I created a new design for the website; but as Prey went nowhere, this design did too. Lon's Prey Page went offline on May 5, 2000 (interesting, the same day as this) since there were no new updates and I lost my host for a while.

A look at the unreleased version of the website, circa 1999.

Now, 2003, most of the content is back online for historical purposes, but no fancy graphics this time. Lon Matero can be contacted at lon [at] matero.net.
