Supposedly, Preyed Upon, a not too old Prey Page, is gone. It's maintainer, Hans Weisheimer, wrote about his thoughts on Prey, and they are not too positive towards Prey. You can see his message on the Preyed Upon page.
I haven't been able to get all the logs of George Broussard lately, but I did get one yesterday. The full log is here. Some highlights:
<[vince]> George: you guys making Prey win95? or going down that dead-end street known as DOS?
<Georgb3DR> We are 100% Win95 now, after Shadow Warrior and blood <Georgb3DR> Prey is all Win95
<MtlHead> George, since the 3dfx chipset sounds like it's gonna be the thing, will Prey support 3dfx completely?
<Georgb3DR> Sure, that's been planned since we first got the card...
<cookie> george, how's the mechwarrior guy doing with prey?
<Georgb3DR> Cookie: Great...
<[vince]> George: you guys getting geared up for prey now? seems like shadow warrior is almost done, are you getting ready for serious Prey work?
<Georgb3DR> Vince: Prey is all business now. People are working on it every day.
George also shared his thoughts on QuickTime movie previews of games, look for that in the log.

Today, I finished my new Apogee page, I say it does look much better. Take a look!
Lon Matero's Apogee / 3D Realms Page
I added Maximum Carnage's Prey Page - http://www.greenapple.com/~carnage/prey/
And thanks for putting my FAQ on there!

You may have noticed that there has been a slowdown in updates. For the last week I have been recovering from a hard drive format. Also, I am no longer going to announce every time George Broussard comes to IRC here, since he goes there so much. I will continue to post the logs on the files page though. (5 more added the 14th)
I did ask George about how the Prey Editor is going, he said, It's getting there.
Another thing bringing me away from this page is my Apogee page, I am currently redesigning it all, it will be finished in a few days.
December 9, 1996
George Broussard made two visits to #Duke3D today asking about slowdown problems anyone was having in the PPak. He also answered general questions. View the log.

Today, I have released the first public version of my FAQ called, "The Prey FAQ". It is version 0.15. Go to my FAQ page to look at it, or click here to download it. I will not be making a HTML version of the FAQ right now, but maybe I will sometime.
I have adding all of my logs of George Broussard on IRC to the Files-Text/Doc area. It is a nice sorted list of all the visits of George. I also added the FAQ to the page.
George made yet another visit to #Duke3D. He is showing up a lot more now, and if you want to see him, stop by between 7:00 - 9:00 PM EST. He visits at that time mostly. Anyway, here is the log.
December 4, 1996
George Broussard sure has been making many trips to IRC lately. This time he was looking for people to re-create the slowdown bug in Duke3D: Atomic Edition. For the full log click here.
December 1, 1996
George was seen in #Duke3D Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.
Download the full logs:
Some highlights from George Broussard:
<GeorgB3DR> pman: the Prey editor will be more friendly, but Build is "as is"
<GeorgB3DR> We think the AI players[i.e. DukeBots] are the next major step in multiplay.. Expect huge leaps in Prey and the next Duke in this area
<GeorgB3DR> sean: yes...more like a cad program. The Prey editor will do anything and not be that[Build] complex.

Mr. Broussard made a quick stop by #Duke3D on IRC just a little while ago today. He did not have much to say about Prey because there just isn't much to report at this time. George said this:
<pailhead> So George.. how is the progress of Prey coming?
<GeorgB3DR> Pail: Paul and I are working on story concepts etc, and some main character work
I also have the full log because I was there to catch him the whole time.

Jason Pratt, maker of It's a Bloody Life, and an Apogee / 3D Realms beta tester, has put up his own Prey page called, Pailhead's Prey Zone. Take a look, it's worth it!

I just found a log of George Broussard on #Duke3D Friday, Nov 15th. Get the full log right here I cut out the parts about Prey and here they are:
<GeorgB3DR> ...the engine is 95%
<GeorgB3DR> Any Prey shots out now, frankly suck shit. They are old, old, old and all the art was a TEST
<GeorgB3DR> Trust me, nothing that crappy will be in the game
<GeorgB3DR> The Prey page on the [Apogee] web is the next to be jettisoned and updated...
<GeorgB3DR> As soon as William gets the editor done, there will be an explosion of Prey screen shots...
November 17, 1996
I couldn't finish my update yesterday, so here it is. I do know the outcome of the Dukematch - it was George 10, phoebus 3. Pheobus has more on Crazed & Quakin' including an excellent edited version of my log.

George Broussard stopped by #Duke3D tonight and was there for a very long time! He talked about Shadow Warrior, Blood, and a Prey. He even asked us for ideas for Shadow Warrior!
Here are some questions and answers about Prey directed to George Broussard:
<D_Nukem> George: What's the chance of "outside" areas in Prey?
<GeorgB3DR> D_Nukem: Good. That's part of the delay. We need to leapfrog Quake and that's hard to do.
<CoolGuy12> George, Will prey's engine still have the cool environment stuff as in be4?
<GeorgB3DR> Cool: Prey's engine is faster than it was. William is jamming to get the tools/editor done by Xmas, so we can start levels again
<CoolGuy12> George, What is prey's editor like? .Is it harder than build?
<GeorgB3DR> Cool: It's going to be way easier to use than Build. No 2d modes. It's all 3D. None of this lame 3 window view crap.
<D_Nukem> George: On the last weekly update on Prey, the face of the Character was posted. What will that be used for?
<GeorgB3DR> DN: That was a concept sketch and might not even be used. The Prey page is about to be 100% redone like the SW page was. Lot's of old/misleading info there.
<D_Nukem> George: Main character of Prey likely to be native American? Or has that already been dropped?
<GeorgB3DR> DN: he probably will stay an Indian/Native American. Cool ideas for that.
<Levelord> George, can we run prey under 320x200 resolution?
<GeorgB3DR> lord: yes
<Skullfry> Does 3DRealms plan on supporting MMX with Prey,or any later titles?
<GeorgB3DR> Skull: Yes, Prey might be hardware only
Brad_N_Co challenged George to a DukeMatch and George accepted it. He was pumped! "Beat you like an ugly stepchild... Pop you like a zit..." Brad was a no show - "I have bloodlust now that Brad stood me up". George next challenged phoebus from Crazed and Quakin'.
This time I was there, and was able to log everything. To download the exclusive log, click here. Check back tomorrow and I will put up the important things said about Prey right here.
I'll have more tomorrow...
The new Screenshots section is now online! I added frames, and a better way to access the different pages. I also added a new screenshot from Gameslice (It's on the first page).
I checked all my links, and changed the broken ones. Added a new link also to, Preyed Upon. There is now a "Top 5 Personal Pages" area under links where I have put the best pages I have found on that list, and added a little information about each one. If you want to quickly see the best Prey pages on the web, take a look at that!

George Broussard dropped in Undernet's #Duke3D (the channel I run) yesterday night. I was not there, but FreddyK was and he sent me this log.
If you are wondering where to go to talk to George Broussard or me, read on. First, you need an IRC client (mIRC, Virc96, etc...) Set up the program and connect to an "Undernet" server. If you do not know of a server, connect to:
us.Undernet.org
Once connected, type: /join #Duke3D Next, you will be in the channel and ready to talk to other Prey and Duke3D fans, including me. Here is a list of some people that go to #Duke3D:
- D_Nukem - Lon Matero (Me! The creator of this page!)
- GeorgB3DR - George Broussard (President of 3D Realms Entertainment)
- RobBrown - Rob Brown (Official Apogee/3DRealms beta tester)
- pailhead - Jason Pratt (Another beta tester, made It's a Bloody Life Blood page)
It's been very quiet with Prey the last few weeks. I'm expecting this to continue for about another month, until about Xmas time.
November 10, 1996
Here it is! Finally up after weeks of work! Just about everything is new or in a new format. The largest change is the addition of frames. Tell me if you like them or not. I took out the old button graphics and will be putting in some smaller ones in the future. I split up Download Central so that it has separate file areas plus a What's New area. Under links, I am currently working on the same thing as the file area - splitting up the areas. In links, I will add a quick review of the site, and the logo graphic. Here, at the Prey news section, I have a new format of news. I think it is much more clearer to read than before. The frames should work fine with 640x480, even though 800x600 works much better.
Now that the new pages are finished, I can focus more on the news and content of the site!

George Broussard stopped by IRC again Thursday, and did mention a lot about Prey. He said that Prey will be speeding up with the new editor coming in place, and Paul (New designer/producer) is coming in a few weeks. We will not see Prey's storyline for a while now since it will be re-done by Paul. George also promised that there will be some new information and new screenshots by Christmas. Good news for Prey!
October 21, 1996
3D Realms officially announced the joining of Paul Schuteyma(Producer/Designer). Click here to see the press release at 3D Realms.
George Broussard (president of 3D Realms) made a visit to IRC Sunday. He answered a few questions on Prey, and did confirm that Paul Schuteyma will be the new producer for Prey. I asked George about his reaction to Tom Hall saying Prey will not make 1997, and he said:
"Prey wouldn't have made 1997 EVEN IF THOSE GUYS HAD STAYED :) That's my comment. It was always a 1998 game. Period."
"The engine has taken longer to make than expected and that blew 1997 out of the water..."
George also said the next update on 3D Realms' Prey page will not take place until next year. So, now I will be taking down the seven in 1997 here, and put up the eight :-(
For some more on what George Broussard has said on IRC, go to the quotes page.

The replacement to Tom Hall on the Prey team is likely to be Paul Schuteyma, former lead designer of MechWarrior 3 at FASA. This is not Official, this is just a guess from me, and information I have found. An Official announcement will be coming from 3D Realms by the end of the month.

10-6-96 GameSpot interviews former producer of Prey, Tom Hall. The big surprise from the interview: "It will be delayed until 1998 for sure now." - Tom Hall
