Randy joined Apogee last fall as a level designer for Duke Nukem 3D, and is now working on Prey and Shadow Warrior. He surprised everyone by stopping by IRC. Randy goes by Duv3DR on IRC. Here is the full log. Right now, about half the people on the Prey team have been on IRC!
<Duv3DR> Lithium...Prey...Hmm...The editor rox...It's the best tool yet for any game...ever!
Scott McCabe also visited #Duke3D today, I talked to him about Prey:
- <D_Nukem> Layre: What have you been set to do with Prey? Make textures, character art, or both?
- <Layre> DN: I do the textures, skins really
- <D_Nukem> Layre: All of the textures we saw in the early Prey screenshots, they were just temporary?
- <Layre> DN: yeah, as far as I know we're not using them...
- <Layre> DN: well, it was a tube like thing, and I stuck in my first Prey naked chick :) It was a lot of fun.
No word on the name of the new 3D Model Artist yet...

The name of one of the new artists to be working on Prey is, Michael Wallin. George says that they are, "awesome artists that worked in other fields[other than gaming]." Look for the name of the other artist to be here tomorrow. George stopped by IRC this afternoon and has this to say about Prey:
<GeorgB3DR> Nuke: We are about to hire 3-4 more people for Prey as it's gearing up. We can build, texture, light and run around a world now.
<GeorgB3DR> Nuke: 3Dfx gives you 25-35FPS at 640x480, with bi-linear etc. We still have to tweak frame rates, but it looks good.
<GeorgB3DR> Nuke: Prey will probably be hardware only. We are going to skip a generation of technology and throw out software renderer's. You will probably need a 3D accelerator like 3Dfx for Prey.
Yesterday, George Broussard informed me that he has hired two 3D Model Artists to work on Prey and/or the next Duke Nukem game. I do not have names, but will get them soon. George also said there is a strong chance two more 3D Model Artists may be hired. 3D Realms is still looking for a Network programmer for Prey.
George Broussard was on IRC last night, here is the log. Here is the log of Scott McCabe on IRC.
Since Preystation brought this up... last year I asked George about having clans or groups in Prey. He said nothing was for sure, but maybe. I suggested "Prey Tribes," George Broussard liked the name. So, that's how these Prey Tribes started. A year from now, will be we in a Tribe battling each other on the internet? We'll see...

Scott McCabe, 3D Realms' newest member of the Prey team, just made his way to #Duke3D on the Undernet. He said that he is now located in Texas and has been working at 3D Realms. Scott goes by the nick Layre, after his addon for Duke3D, on IRC. Scott said that he had to move from Ontario, Canada to get to 3D Realms.
In other news, after a long absence, George Broussard is now been making more regular visits to IRC. George said to expect some screenshots of Prey using a 3DFX sometime. Here are some full logs:

More and more, 3D Realms is looking to expand the Prey Team to get Prey off and running. Currently there are 3 job openings: 2 3D Modelers, and one network programmer to replace Jim Dose who moved to Hypnotic. Go to 3D Realms' Job page for more. Of course, I'll keep you updated with developments with these who positions.

Aaron Corcoran (Lithium), has started a Prey page called, Preystation. He has a good start! Here is some news for you to start below, Aaron :)
It looks like the Prey team is about to gain another member. This originally came from my Apogee page, which I reported it a few days ago. Scott McCabe (Layre on IRC), has been hired as a Graphic Artist for Prey. He is known for his work on a large Duke Nukem 3D add-on, called Layre. If you want to see some of his work go to the Layre Homepage. 3D Realms has not made an official announcement, or have send anything about this for that matter. As I know, I am the only one reporting this.
